Girlfriends & The Game...big sigh!

I've been so disillusioned lately with the TV writer's strike, I've woefully neglected my blogging duties. But since last night's episodes of Girlfriends and The Game are probably the last new episodes we'll see in a long while, I felt compelled to speak on them.

You know that I have been less than impressed by Girlfriends this season. And, clearly, not even Debbie Allen's magic touch can save this show, which has clearly jumped the shark in a big way.

Joan is acting like a clown, and I don't mean as entertainment for her support group's holiday party. I was so embarrassed by her behavior last night, I had to put the TV on mute and walk away at one point.

William and Monica are such a waste. What the heck were they talking about in the intro? Were they even speaking English? All I caught was something about Santa and Morocco. Very strange. And they are doing Monica a disservice by trying to turn her into this brash, and ironically "ghetto," character. She's like the poor man's Toni Childs/Tasha Mack.

Again, when Lynn is the only bright spot on Girlfriends, Houston, we have a problem.

Moving on to The Game, which seems to have lost it's momentum over the past couple of episodes.

Why is Melanie acting like Dionne is her BFF, when just weeks ago they couldn't stand each other? And I very upset that the only thing on Melanie's "life plan" has to do with Derwin. Forget that Negro and get your own life together, girl! Because he's shining and doing his thing, taking private jets to St. Barth's, while you're laid up on the couch eating cookies in front of a Charlie Brown Christmas tree. Mel should have gone home to see her family - there's no reason for her to still be in San Diego.

The best part of last night's episode was when Dionne schooled Tasha on the fine art of professional etiquette. Tasha needs to drop this "ghetto-hood-rat" persona and be about her business if she wants to be successful. It's not cute for a grown woman, let alone any woman, to act like that.

Jason and Kelly are a mess. Kelly needs to pack up that nappy-headed child and bounce, because Jason is going to drag her down with him, and it's not going to be pretty when the truth comes to light.

I guess that's it for now Girlfriends and The Game fans. No new episodes for the foreseeable future. I hope there's a few left in inventory for January to help us make it through until the strike is over.

Bah humbug!
