Will and Jada keeps the laughs rolling

Are these the only African-Americans who can get a show greenlit on TV nowadays? They definitely have the juice. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Will and Jada Pinkett Smith have two new comedy projects in the works at two different TV networks. For the CW, home of their current series All of Us, the power couple is creating a show that would look at divorced mothers who reside in a large apartment complex. This reminds me a little of 227.

And over at ABC, the premise revolves around a conservative, upper-class African-American man and his liberal, lower-middle-class Jewish wife. Don't we have enough interracial couples on TV as it is? Dr. Burke on Grey's Anatomy is dating an Asian, Cristina Yang, for now, and over on Day Break Taye Diggs' character is dating a Latina(?). Where are the African-American couplings?

There may be hope. I saw a preview over the weekend for a new ABC Family series called Lincoln Heights - an African-American cop brings his suburban family back to live the tough inner-city neighborhood that he grew up in. It premieres Janaury 8 at 7pm. Check out this teaser:
